ANDREW’S THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Andrew takes a strength-based approach combined with motivational interviewing to engage and motivate clients towards the necessary steps needed to make changes towards building a life worth living. He specializes in treating Major Depressive Disorder, General Anxiety Disorder, Substance Use Disorders, trauma-related disorders, COVID fatigue, and grief and loss. He has been trained in EMDR, MBT (Mentalization-Based Treatment), and anger management techniques. Andrew assesses each client's unique needs and will adapt the therapy session from zoom rooms to Central Park walks to create the most beneficial environment for change. He is of the opinion that any interaction can be a therapeutic engagement.

In addition to psychotherapy, Andrew also provides clinical coaching focusing on skill-building, improving symptom management, and challenging negative thought patterns to reduce stress and anxiety. Andrew also works closely with parents and other family members to help them develop coping strategies to improve familial relationships.

Andrew often infuses various therapeutic techniques to address the client’s presenting issues. He may sometimes integrate physical wellness, music, and meditation into the therapeutic process. He has found these methods useful while helping clients reengage with their different passions while learning practical coping skills and outlets for stressors. Andrew leverages his extensive experience to help identify the root cause of the issues presented to optimize potential therapeutic options.
